Business context
A flight is one of the few times a person has uninterrupted attention and a clear, concrete reason to think about where they’re going. They’ve committed to the destination. They have hours to fill. And they’re often on a personal phone or tablet, online via in-flight wifi, with nothing relevant to look at.
AeroCanvas was built around that opportunity. Founder Grant Markhart’s vision was to give passengers a clean, useful way to explore the city they were about to land in — discover restaurants, hotels, and experiences worth knowing about, browse nearby cities, and pick up real in-flight offers — all from the device already in their hand.
For destination businesses, AeroCanvas opens up a moment that no other channel reaches: passengers actively planning what they’ll do tomorrow, with nothing else competing for their attention.
The challenge
Building for in-flight use brings a specific set of constraints. The product had to:
- Work cleanly on personal phones and tablets, not on a fixed seat-back screen
- Communicate flight status at a glance — origin, destination, time at each, and time remaining — without becoming the focus of the experience
- Stay browsable rather than directive, so a passenger could explore by destination, by city, or by category without getting lost
- Present each business in a way that felt content-first and trustworthy, not like an in-flight ad
- Make a real action — claiming an offer that arrives by email — feel as light as a tap
Building something similar?
If you have a focused product concept and need a partner to take it from definition to a delivered MVP, Numatic can help identify the right next step.
What Numatic delivered
Numatic acted as AeroCanvas’s product partner from concept through delivered MVP, working alongside the founders and the AeroCanvas team.
- Product direction: worked with the client to translate the AeroCanvas vision into a workable product structure and feature set
- Live prototype: built a working live prototype to validate the product direction and let stakeholders interact with the experience early
- Original UX and product design: shaped the original screens — flight status bar, home map, city pulse, business detail views, and the in-flight offer claim flow
- MVP build: delivered the responsive web app for phone and tablet
Outcome
AeroCanvas’s MVP is currently in UAT, ready for production deployment as part of the company’s go-to-market.
Founder vision shaped into a workable product structure, validated through a live prototype before full MVP commitment
Delivered MVP covering the complete first-release experience: flight status, destination map, city pulse, business detail, and in-flight offer claim
Multi-party delivery — Numatic on design and implementation, the AeroCanvas team on product and direction — held together without slowing build velocity
